Campfire Pizza
Ingredients:
- Pre-made pizza dough or pre-baked pizza crusts (store-bought or homemade)
- Pizza sauce
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Your choice of pizza toppings (pepperoni, cooked sausage, diced vegetables, etc.)
- Olive oil
- Italian seasoning
- Aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Prepare your pizza toppings by slicing and cooking any ingredients that need to be cooked beforehand (such as sausage or vegetables).
- Preheat your campfire to medium heat, creating a bed of hot coals for cooking.
- Tear off a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil and lay it flat on a clean surface.
- Roll out the pre-made pizza dough or place the pre-baked pizza crust onto the aluminum foil.
- Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough or crust, leaving a border around the edges.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Add your choice of pizza toppings evenly over the cheese.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the toppings and sprinkle with Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
- Carefully fold the aluminum foil over the pizza, sealing the edges tightly to create a packet.
- Place the pizza packet on the campfire grate or on hot coals, cooking for about 5-10 minutes.
- Check the pizza periodically to ensure it doesn't burn. Cooking times may vary based on heat intensity.
- Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, carefully open the foil packet and check the crust for desired crispness.
- Using a spatula, carefully transfer the cooked campfire pizza onto a plate or cutting board.
- Let the pizza cool slightly before slicing and enjoying your delicious campfire creation.
